About our Church

Our church is a branch of The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, Massachusetts, also known as The Mother Church.

We are located at 7318 NE Loop 820, North Richland Hills, Texas, one block East from Richland High School.  All are welcome at our Sunday morning and Wednesday evening services and to use the services of our Reading Room.

Sunday Service

Our Sunday service is held from 10:30 to 11:30 AM, and all are welcome. The service includes the reading of the Christian Science weekly Bible Lesson Sermon which is made up of citations from the King James Version of the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, the discoverer and founder of Christian Science. The service also includes other scriptural selections, congregational singing, a vocal solo, silent prayer, and the audible praying of the Lord’s Prayer with its spiritual interpretation as found in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures

Two Readers elected from our membership conduct the Sunday services. The Second Reader reads from the Bible, and the First Reader reads from the Christian Science textbook (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures) which interprets and explains the Bible passages.

As stated by the First Reader at every Sunday Service, the Bible and the Christian Science textbook are our only preachers. The Christian Science weekly Bible Lesson, found in the Christian Science Quarterly and studied throughout the week by students of Christian Science, constitutes our Sunday sermon. This lesson sermon is repeated in Churches of Christ, Scientist all over the globe. The weekly lesson sermons cover 26 topics repeated twice yearly. These lessons have subjects such as “Love,” “Life,” “Truth,” “Christ Jesus,” “God the Preserver of Man,” “God the Only Cause and Creator,” and more. The Christian Science Quarterly, published by the Christian Science Publishing Society, can be found at Christian Science Reading Rooms or online at www.tfccs.org. You may also order a Quarterly by calling 1-800-877-MY-LESSON or (877) 695-3776.

Wednesday Evening Testimony Meeting

Our Wednesday evening testimony meeting is held at 7:30 PM, and all are welcome. This service includes selected readings from the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scripture. Following the readings is an opportunity for individuals in the congregation to share testimonies of Christian Science healing or remarks on Christian Science.

Sunday School

Our Sunday School meets at the same hour as the church service from 10:30 to 11:30 AM, and all young people up to the age of 20 are invited to attend. Here students learn how to apply the truths of Christian Science to any challenge they may have in life. They learn about the Bible, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy (the discoverer and founder of Christian Science) and they study the weekly Bible Lesson Sermon found in the Christian Science Quarterly. Students also study the Ten Commandments, the Sermon on the Mount, the Lord's Prayer, and the life and teachings of Christ Jesus.

The Sunday School service begins with the singing of a hymn and the reading of the opening citations from the weekly Bible Lesson Sermon. Following this is a period of silent prayer and the audible praying of the Lord’s Prayer.

Students spend the rest of the hour in age appropriate classes taught by experienced Christian Scientist who offer a wealth of knowledge about the Bible and the teachings of Christian Science. Christian Science Sunday School arms children with spiritual tools that meet every human need.

Thanksgiving Service

Our church also offers a Thanksgiving Service held annually on Thanksgiving Day from 10:30 to 11:30 AM, and all are welcome, including young children. A special Thanksgiving lesson sermon found in the Christian Science Quarterly is read which includes passages from the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.Following the readings is an opportunity for individuals in the congregation to express gratitude.

Child Care

Child care for infants and small children is provided at all of our services by loving and experienced care givers.

Public Reading Room

Because individual study is so important to students of Christian Science, Christian Science Reading Rooms are provided as a quiet place where anyone may read, borrow, or purchase literature on Christian Science. Our church offers a Christian Science Reading Room in the foyer of our church, and the public is welcome. Here can be found Bibles, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures and other writings of Mary Baker Eddy, Christian Science periodicals, and study reference tools. Our Reading Room also contains volumes of all published issues of the Christian Science Sentinel, the Christian Science Journal, and The Herald of Christian Science. A computer is also available with Concord (a computerized concordance to the King James Version of the Bible and writings of Mary Baker Eddy). Visitors may use Concord to quickly find (and print) any desired citation from the Bible or the writings of Mary Baker Eddy.

Our Reading Room is open Wednesday and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and after each service. The phone number is (817) 281-2436, and the address is 7318 NE Loop 820 (the same as the church). All are welcome to visit and use the resources of our Reading Room.
